“The ‘Headmen Academy’ Begins at SDÜ”
Organized in cooperation with Süleyman Demirel University, the Governorship of Isparta, and the Ministry of Interior, the “Headmen Academy” program is being held between October 13–15. Throughout the three-day program, headmen will receive training from academics and institutional representatives on various topics such as public administration, communication, digitalization, stress management, and official correspondence rules.

At the opening session held in the Conference Hall A of SDÜ Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Gökhan Büyükleblebi, Member of the Turkish Headmen Confederation and President of the Isparta Headmen Association, emphasized that headmen play a crucial role as a bridge between public institutions and citizens. He said: “This academy, organized to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of our headmen, will strengthen the quality of public service. We aim to make communication between citizens and institutions more robust.”

Suna Üstüner, Head of the Directorate of the Headmen Information System at the Ministry of Interior, stated that the academy aims to strengthen the institution of headmanship, which is one of the cornerstones of democracy. Üstüner said: “You are the heart of our neighborhoods, the first point of contact for our citizens, and the living memory of our communities. This academy is an important opportunity to equip our esteemed headmen with the most up-to-date administrative and legal knowledge.”

Speaking on behalf of the host institution, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gençtürk noted that training will be provided on 21 different topics over the three days. He added: “We have prepared an academically rich program. Through these trainings, our headmen will be able to provide more effective, informed, and participatory services in their respective regions.”

Canan Aydın, Deputy Mayor and Member of the Isparta Municipal Council, underlined that headmen form the foundation of social harmony and solidarity in society, saying: “You are establishing sustainable communication between citizens and the state.”

In the later part of the program, Governor of Isparta Abdullah Erin highlighted the importance of the headmanship institution, stating: “You headmen are the unshakable bridge between the citizens and the state. This bridge will never collapse.”

The first training session was delivered by Suna Üstüner under the title “Headmen Application Entry Screen.” At the end of the three-day “Headmen Academy” program, participants will be presented with certificates.
