DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS POLICY DOCUMENT
Leadership, Management, and Quality
-The management and development activities of the Department are carried out in alignment with the policies established by our University and Faculty.
-Department management aims to ensure the operation of the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle to strengthen quality processes and to utilize departmental resources effectively and efficiently.
-To achieve these objectives, the management executes decision-making procedures, with every decision process recorded digitally.
-Meetings are held at the beginning of each semester with the participation of the Head of Department, Deputy Heads, Heads of Major Specialties, and faculty members. Planned changes and task assignments are shared with faculty and research assistants. When necessary, decisions are made via voting signed by participants.
-Decisions taken during departmental meetings cover all academic staff. Both management and members are expected to comply with these decisions.
Education and Instruction Policy
-Curricula are prepared considering global educational policies and technological advancements. The department management is responsible for ensuring students take up-to-date courses aligned with current social, political, technological, and economic developments.
-To maintain efficient education and instruction, Heads of Major Specialties meet once a year to review and, if necessary, update the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs / PÖÇ) and Program Outcomes (POs / PEA).
-The objective is to graduate students equipped with field-specific knowledge, skills, and competencies. Additionally, students are expected to adopt ethical and moral principles such as equality, justice, freedom, and human rights by the end of their four-year study.
-Maintaining the educational process is under the direct responsibility of the Head of Department. Course assignments are allocated by the Head and Deputy Heads by taking into account the expertise of the academic staff.
-At the beginning of each semester, the department management convenes to balance the course distribution and teaching loads according to faculty expertise.
Social Contribution Policy
-The department aims to cultivate ethical graduates with a strong sense of social responsibility. Participation of both academic staff and students in various activities is actively encouraged and supported.
-Course outputs aim to enhance the social welfare of society. Graduates are expected to apply their knowledge in both academic and professional life, creating positive outcomes for society.
-National and local activities are conducted in a regular, effective, and continuous manner.
Development Policy
-Departmental duties are carried out by coordination units under the responsibility of the Department Chairmanship.
-Coordinator tasks are assigned fairly and reviewed at the beginning of each semester. New units may be established or existing ones closed as needed.
-To maintain operations and resolve student issues, the Exam Security Commission and Course Schedule Commission meet with class representatives after midterm exams every semester to collect feedback and offer solutions.
-The Alumni Tracking Committee maintains communication with graduates, reaching out every two years via email, phone, or video call to gather information on their progress, needs, and feedback.
-To measure the effectiveness of Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), an annual survey is administered to graduating students. PEOs and POs are updated, and deficiencies are resolved based on survey results.
-The department inbox is checked weekly to respond quickly to student needs, requests, and opinions.
-Each commission meets annually with its chair and members to report on the year's activities to the department management, supporting digitalization and data tracking efforts.
