About Us

The Department of Economics at Süleyman Demirel University was established within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1992 and commenced its academic activities in the 1993–1994 academic year with undergraduate and thesis master’s programs, subsequently launching its evening education program in the 1994–1995 academic year. Initially starting education with a modest academic staff in shared spaces within the Faculty of Engineering buildings, the department strengthened its institutional infrastructure over time by moving to its modern, independent building on the East Campus. Parallel to its physical growth, the department rapidly expanded its information resources, offering students and researchers a contemporary educational environment through a rich printed library collection, modern computer laboratories, and access to international databases. Today, with a distinguished faculty comprising 11 professors, 5 associate professors, 9 assistant professors, and 3 research assistants—who have completed their doctoral and post-doctoral studies at prominent domestic and international institutions (such as those in the US and the UK)—the department holds a qualified and prominent standing among equivalent programs in Türkiye. In addition to its existing undergraduate program, the Department of Economics continues to offer education across a broad spectrum with thesis/non-thesis master's and doctoral programs, remaining steadfast in its commitment to graduating successful individuals who assume critical roles in academia, the public sector, and the private sector.
